Culture - artisan in traditional dress and gold jewellery

At Thuli, culture is not just a source of inspiration — it’s a relationship built on respect, learning, and continuity.

  • We deeply value the artisans behind our work, embracing their knowledge as both creative collaborators and cultural stewards.
  • We are committed to preserving traditional craft techniques by creating meaningful opportunities for artisans to sustain and pass down their skills to future generations.
The traditions we work in

Jamdani

Bengal

A handloom weave in which every motif is built up by hand, thread by thread, as the cloth itself is being woven. One of the most time-intensive weaving traditions in the world.

Khadi

Bengal

Hand-spun and hand-woven cloth. Slow to make and breathable to wear, with a texture and irregularity that only human hands produce.

Ajrakh

Kutch, Gujarat

Resist hand block printing using carved wooden blocks and natural dyes, built through many rounds of printing, washing, and drying in the sun.

Through every piece, we honor the legacy of these time-honored practices — ensuring that heritage doesn’t fade, but evolves with dignity and purpose.

Thuli × DVAA

THULI is a design-led clothing brand rooted in social and environmental responsibility — founded in 2015 by Prem and Seethai to honor traditional craftsmanship, ensure fair wages, and create sustainable, fashion-forward pieces that connect people, culture, and planet. Each garment is handcrafted by the skilled artisans of DVAA, our sister company in India, where heritage techniques meet dignified work. Together, Thuli and DVAA form two parts of one story — a cross-continental collaboration built on shared values and a deep respect for people and the planet.
